Tell me about Bethshan Church!

Welcome to Bethshan!

Let us introduce ourselves ..

We are a lively, family church who together are believing God to transform the North East. We meet all together in bigger celebrations and conferences throughout the year as well as in congregations and smaller gatherings in Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham weekly.

As a whole community we build our life around the person of Jesus, encountering his heart, being discipled by his words, going on mission as his family and transforming through his kingdom. It’s a pretty simple mission statement!

Please let us know how we can help you by contacting the office by telephone on 0191 5642000, or by e mail at office@bethshanchurch.net.

We would love you to join and find a home to belong and grow in.

Here is a taster of some of things important to us for life in Bethshan:

Missional Communities
MC’s are the essential unit of our wider family. Groups of around 15-40 folk meet during the week and give everyone a sense of belonging, care and purpose. Here’s where we can be known, be used and bless each other impacting the people of the North East where we are.

House of Prayer
We support a House of Prayer with over 100 hours a week live worship and prayer staffed by interns and volunteers! It’s an awesome place for personal prayer and refreshment as well as a place to stand, day or night and contend for God’s purposes in the nations.

Encounters
We love to set aside time to be ministered to by God’s love so every year we go away for a whole weekend to do just that. You will find time at the end of every service to receive ministry and to invite the Holy Spirit to do more in our lives.

Serving each other
We believe everyone has a unique role to play in the church family. There are so many ways to serve and love practically and we encourage everyone help build a place we can transform the North East from.

RiTe Nights
We host regular gatherings for our students and young adults to enjoy being together, and with extended worship times, and relevant teaching.

Hopespring
We love demonstrating Jesus as good news to the North East. That’s why we run schools for teenagers excluded from education, a mother & babies home, a food bank, a leaving care parcels project, a job club, a debt management centre, a therapy centre and so much more!

Fireschool
We want the children of the North East to get the best and we want to find a way to love and impact them all. We run fireschool during services as well as holiday clubs throughout the year and are constantly looking to help our kids love Jesus more.

Families
We do our very best to support all kinds of families by providing welcoming communities, group activities & fun outings, marriage ‘dinner dates’ and practical resourcing.

Conferences
We love serving Jesus’ wider church by hosting great events throughout the year that give us some of the best of what God is doing round the world right here in the North East.

Stewarding money well
We have a high value on stewarding money with transparency, integrity and faithfulness. We encourage everyone to live debt free with a great spirit of generosity. We want to people a people who know how to give to God as well as share what we have with others.

Transformation of society
We have a vision to disciple the North East; making business, government, education, politics, healthcare etc places that are healthy, honouring to Jesus and caring to all. Poverty is not just material but in relationships or our motivation and spiritual life. We want an end to systemic poverty in the North East!

You can find out more about what we do for specific age groups elsewhere on the site.

If this church becomes your home then you will of course have found the best church in the whole world!

Much love in Christ,
